Dr. Carmen Duarte Wins Book Award

Please take a moment to congratulate our own Visiting Instructor (and alumna!) Dr. Carmen Duarte.  Her latest book 45 de Agosto y otras obras dramáticas [August 45 and other dramatic works] was selected as a Bronze Medal winner in the 2024 Florida Book Awards.

 

Established in 2006,  The Florida Book Awards   (FBA) recognizes, honors, and celebrates the best literature published each year by Florida authors or about our state.  Carmen’s book was one of more than 190 entries submitted across eleven categories this year, and there was a very strong pool of submissions.  

 

Her achievement will be recognized with:

• A series of in-person events in Tallahassee
• Placing a copy of her book in Florida State University’s permanent collection of Florida Book Award Winners
• Recognition on their website with her photo and author bio
• Inclusion in FORUM Magazine , the magazine of Florida Humanities
• And medal stickers, which can be placed on her book

 

This is a huge deal! Congratulations Carmen!!!
